Sitting beneath the curiously shaped conical hill once known as Sithean Dubh da Choimhead (The Black Fairy Hill of the Two Outlooks) at Glenmore lies the Green Loch; An Lochan Uaine. It is said to have got its greenish tinge because the fairies wash their clothes there.
A long long time ago some Scottish folk had a real belief in the fairies, and they weren’t the cute little winged creatures we imagine today, they were troublemakers who took great pleasure in playing tricks on people, and would even steal livestock and children. Some Cairngorm folk even formed relationships with these fairy folk. They say you would be foolish to carry on with them.......... You could only tell they were fairies if you looked into their eyes that sparkled like a Cairngorm gem.
