Local Produce & Farmers Markets

The unique Cairngorms landscape is perfect growing ground for producing unique, world-renowned food and drink, from game to honey to herbs…

Eating and drinking local is one of the best ways to really appreciate this abundant landscape. Try the sumptuous venison from deer that roam free. Taste the succulent fish fresh from the local rivers. Sample the delicious local gin, beer and whiskies made here. Sláinte!

Visitors say they can really taste the difference when it comes to sampling our locally produced, Cairngorms food.

As well as being more humane and giving animals the best possible life, allowing them to roam freely also - say the foodies - makes for a better tasting end result.

Indeed, you just have to take an Estate tour to see how well the highland cows and deer, for instance, are looked after.

Similarly, the clean lochs and rivers are full of world-class tasting salmon and trout.

Many restaurants pride themselves on serving fresh local fish newly caught. Or you can buy it directly from local farm shops, like Rothiemurchus, where they've often added their own special twist like smoking it over old whisky barrel chippings.

To make your taste sensation complete, why not pair your food with the perfect tipple? There are many local delights to choose from whether you prefer whisky, gin or ale!

Or, why not finish your meal with an award winning cheese from Cambus O'May?
