Useful Contacts for your Event in the Cairngorms National Park

Here are some useful contacts which will help you organise your event within the Cairngorms National Park. You'll find details of Emergency Services, contacts at Local Authorities for Outdoor Access issues, as well as general advice and assistance.


Emergency Services

Police – Any event taking place on the road or in an area of public use should be referred to the Police for their approval.  When looking for advice and information regarding events please don't dial 999 as this can stop emergency services from attending possible life-threatening situations. Please find the non-emergency numbers for the relevant police forces below:

Mountain Rescue – For outdoor access events, in some cases it may be necessary to inform the Mountain Rescue service of your plans.  In case of emergency the Mountain Rescue should be contacted via 999.

For outdoor access with the Cairngorms National Park it is necessary to speak to outdoor access officials within the relevant Local Authority.  The Cairngorms National Park is comprised of 5 different local authorities; please ensure you speak to all that will be involved.

Advice and Assistance

All outdoor events held in the Cairngorms National Park are expected to meet the Scottish Outdoor Access Code

Waste Aware Scotland provides helpful advice on how and why to reduce, reuse and recycle your event waste

EventScotland, the national events agency, was established in 2003 with the aim of strengthening and promoting Scotland’s events industry.  Their website provides information on event planning, running sustainable events and access to funding from the National Events Programme.
