Winter (November)The cold season is here and the Cairngorms feels more like the arctic every day. The reindeer have grown in their thick winter coats to keep nice and cosy over the long winter. Why not take a visit to see Britain's only free-ranging herd of reindeer in their natural habitat?Visits go every day at 11am at this time of year, follow a reindeer herder as you make your way up to the mountain enclosure, walk amongst reindeer, stroking and feeding them as the herder tells you more about them. Situated in the centre of the Cairngorms National Park, you will also enjoy beautiful views of the Cairngorm Mountains. The walk takes around 20 minutes and will cross some rough and snowy/muddy ground on the mountainside so make sure you've got some sturdy footwear and some nice cosy waterproof layers!Spaces are limited so please arrive in good time for your chosen visit, as close to 10am as possible when we open is highly recommended. We do not have a pre-booking system available so places are allocated on a first come first served basis. For those less able, from Easter to New Year, you can visit a small group of reindeer in the paddock and exhibition at the Centre, quizzes and crafts for children.
