Insh Hall Ski School

Insh Hall Ski School

Loch Insh Watersports' BASI affiliated ski school, offering ski hire and instruction on our 60m dry ski slope and at the Scottish resorts.

Come ski with us and learn from the best.

Our sixty metre dry slope is open year round. It has an electric lift and has been designed for beginners with a large run out area. One hour will give you enough control to negotiate your first slalom course!
Avoid the queues and get a solid start on our easy slope.
Our Instructors are accredited by BASI and operate using their guidance. Our Instructors also follow the snowsport awards scheme Snowlife.
The concept of the awards is to try to encourage snowsport participants to explore movements, sensations, terrain and sliding equipment safely, whilst having a lot of fun developing the skills and independence which will help them really enjoy snowsports all over the mountain. There are nine levels in the scheme, plus two levels for the 5s and under (called the fun awards). These awards aim to give our clients greater incentives to come back and make progress, especially at the intermediate phase. Using the awards we can help our clients to enjoy all this safely and in a fun and exciting way.
It is up to us and our snowsport instructors to be at the forefront of these movements.
Our instructors aim to be open to new ideas, experimental with their own performance excited and enthusiastic about what they do.
We use the scheme to encourage children and adults; to help them to realise their goals and
potential, whether they take a week a year in the mountains or want to compete in the Olympics.
Always look for the BASI kite mark as this is your guarantee to a good lesson what ever slope and ski school you go to we all teach the same way!

In winter we run courses for skiing and snowboarding. At the scottish resorts lessons are by the 1/2 day, or longer. We can drive you, or drive yourself to whichever mountain has the best conditions that day.

Cairngorm 20mins, The Lecht 70mins, Nevis Range 90mins.

Come for a week or weekend or just a day and enjoy the same relaxed atmosphere in a different season. Our ski slope and centre is open year round you can stay in the log cabins relax in our beautiful Loch side restaurant in between practice seasons just outside on the ski slope which you can see from the bar area.
Let us take you up the hill-we are not tied to any particular resort although we tend to take skiers to Cairngorm the biggest resort in Scotland as it's the closest.
However if the weather changes we will still be skiing as we can go to a different resort based on the weather. We also can use the artificial slope at Loch Insh meaning you have guarenteed skiing what ever the weather book with us and we will make sure you get out on the slopes.
Our groups are specifically tailored to suit your needs so class sizes and adults and kids groups are all matched to your ability and numbers in your party.
The ski school is overseen by Andrew Freshwater ex Olympian in 1998 and world champs team 1997-99. Andy has spent his life racing and now coaching he has taught at all levels from the Loch Insh ski slope with beginners to the local ski club at weekends to our current world cup teams. Andy now spends his time between running the ski school in the winter and commentary on Eurosport as a technical expert. So you know you will have the best instruction from him and his team and they know what they are talking about. Andy is also a BASI trainer for all the skiing qualifications and so trains his small team of carefully selected instructors, many of whom teach a number of different sports both summer and winter , they know more than one way to get you to improve!

Snowboarding throws you in at the deep end, like learning to ski with you feet tied together.

Of course you're going to fall over, but..... you learn quickly too.

Rest assured after a week you'll be hooked.
Many of our staff are dual discipline meaning they will teach either skiing or boarding-not sure what to try come for a few days and try a bit of both you can book in as with all the other activitys by the hour or day or week you decide.
