Tomintoul and Glenlivet in the Cairngorms National Park

Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands and the largest community on Glenlivet Estate. Situated halfway between Aviemore and Royal Deeside, Tomintoul makes an ideal base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park. Throughout its history Tomintoul has been a stopping place for travellers and this is reflected in the range of accommodation and services available in the village today.
Glenlivet Estate is surrounded by high hills on all sides. Its landscapes range from deep river valleys through fertile farmland and wooded hillsides to high heather moors with magnificent views across north eastern Scotland. Notorious for whisky smugglers in times gone by, Glenlivet can be explored on foot from over one hundred miles of easy access way marked trails. These trails also enable visitors to discover the abundant wildlife ranging from Golden Eagle and Mountain Hare to Red Deer and Black Grouse.
Whisky production is still part of every day life and visitors can enjoy a dram on a visit to The Glenlivet Distillery. Other activities include skiing, mountain biking, off road safaris, pony trekking, fishing and other field sports. Tomintoul and Glenlivet make for a great day out.
