Museums in the Cairngorms National Park

To delve more deeply into the local area's history and heritage, visit one of the museums in the Cairngorms National Park.  There you'll find a wealth of information to bring the history of the Cairngorms to life.

The Cairngorms National Park is steeped in history playing a big part in the past history of Scotland as a through route to the armies marching North and South to the battles of Culloden amongst others.  The Lairig Gru was one of these routes as was General Wades road built by the armies travelling through the area.  While out and about walking keep an eye out for old ruins and past signs of crofting life.
