Fused and Light is the new studio/ gallery in Newtonmore specialising in mountain paintings and photographs and contemporary glasswork. It is located at The Trove, Main St, Newtonmore (next to the co-op).
The glasswork comprises fused glass, stained glass and engraved pieces by Anne Bridgen, Alan Fisher, Aileen Asher respectively. The studio, forming part of the gallery, is equipped for fused glass work and offers work for sale (jewellery, coasters, bowls and decorative pieces) as well as offering classes in fused glass and taking commissions for larger works such as kitchen or bathroom splashbacks.
Special Features:
Short DROP IN session in glass fusing for £15 (children £10). This can run any time by arrangement for 2 or more people. (NB Glass needs to be fired overnight). This will give an introduction to the process and allow you to make one or two small pieces. The children's session involves making a coaster using precut glass, glass paints and fusible material. More teaching and a greater variety of options is available to adults.
I will be running 3 session classes in 2012 at a cost of £55 for 3 2h sessions. These provide a comprehensive overview to the different possibilities offered by glass fusing and several pieces will be made. (class 1 glass cutting, class 2 inclusions, class 3 creating a large final piece). Please contact me if interested as these can run any time for 2 or more people.
