Skerryvore opened 2016 with their latest ‘Celtic Connections’ sell out gig in Glasgow following a year of tenth anniversary, ‘Decade’ celebrations throughout 2015. As 2016 drew to a close they were once again recognised as the ‘Live Act of the Year 2016’ at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards, an award they had previously won in 2011.
The 7 piece band - Tiree brothers Daniel Gillespie (accordion) and Martin Gillespie (bagpipes, whistles & accordion), Fraser West (drums & vocals), Alec Dalglish (lead vocals & guitar), Craig Espie (fiddles), Alan Scobie (keyboards) and Jodie Bremaneson (bass) – tour extensively, throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK, and worldwide. Their 2015 ‘Decade World Tour’ was launched with a sell-out 6000 capacity concert in Oban and then took in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark and USA, as well as UK gigs stretching from Shetland to the South of England. Skerryvore returned to USA in August 2016 for a 7 week, coast to coast tour – their longest yet! 2017 brings another new album – their seventh – as well as ‘Skerryvore’s Oban Live’ on 2nd and 3rd June, and further tours throughout Scotland, UK, Europe and USA.
Drums’ N ’Roses are a Bagpipe Rock Band and one of the most exciting musical acts in Scotland. With a pool of some of the best pipers and drummers in Scotland, Drums N’ Roses bring a mix of rock and pop and traditional Scottish music featuring world class performers who use traditional instruments in a very contemporary way! The band brings energy and enjoyment to every performance and you will enjoy the heartbeat of the drums and the freshest drum and pipe sound around.
Footerin' About are an exciting young band from Moray who perform a jumping, upbeat set of original songs, vibrant compositions and traditional tunes which are sure to get you on the dance floor. Their recent performances have included Speyfest, Belladrum and on the Danny Kyle Stage at Celtic Connections. They plan to release their debut single in 2017.
This concert is organized by Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust with generous support from The Glenlivet Distillery.
