The World Famous Whisky Castle has been selling the finest malt whiskies of Scotland from its premises in the quaint village of Tomintoul for over 100 years. It is located at the gateway to Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail, 18 miles South of Dufftown. We have over 600 malt whiskies with many being single cask, independently bottled and from small batches.
We are delighted that Peter MacKay from Morrison and MacKay will be spending the day with us hosting tastings for our visitors, showcasing the vast and unique range of bottlings he supplies to the Whisky Castle. Peter is renowned throughout the industry for his continued development and promotion of Morrison and MacKay’s brands and he possesses an expert technical knowledge of the whisky making process from barley, water and yeast to the bottled product on the shelf. During his open tasting, Peter will be offering tastings from the exceptional Carn Mor Strictly Limited range, all of which are non-chill filtered and naturally coloured. For this Whisky Castle tasting only, there will be opportunities to enjoy a taste of some of the extremely limited and luxury bottlings from his Celebration of the Cask range. A rare treat for discerning whisky lovers worldwide.
Peter will also be hosting a tasting masterclass with us in the evening which will offer an in depth and fully tutored tasting of some of the Carn Mor range, and full details can be found at www.whiskycastle.com.
When you visit us, you can complement your tasting experience by enjoying our cosy cafe for a snack or light lunch and browse a wide selection of Scottish gifts, foods, toys, clothing and unique jewellery. There is something to suit the whole family.
Our open tastings offer an opportunity to learn about and enjoy what some of our finest malts have to offer and how best to enjoy them. They will benefit whisky novices and experts alike. Please be aware that our whisky events are open to over 18's only.
We would ask that groups of 10 or more call ahead and book a slot on 01807 580213.
